East Harlem Cafe is a neighborhood destination where residents and visitors connect over great coffee and home-cooked food. We're here to serve you.

Visit Us in Person

The best way to experience East Harlem Cafe is to stop by and sit with us. Our space is designed for the community—locals catching up over morning coffee, families sharing breakfast, professionals grabbing lunch between meetings, and neighbors gathering to relax. We're located on Lexington Avenue in the heart of El Barrio, and we're open daily for breakfast, lunch, and light fare dinner.

When you visit, you'll find free WiFi throughout the cafe, making it easy to work, study, or simply stay connected. We pride ourselves on fresh coffee made to your liking and a menu that reflects the flavors and care of home cooking. From our all-natural oatmeal and whole wheat pancakes to our signature El Barrio Salad and homemade sandwiches, everything is prepared with attention to quality and taste.

Hours and Location

We operate with neighborhood rhythms in mind. Our weekday hours run from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to join us for breakfast or lunch before or after work. On weekends, we open a bit later at 8:30 AM and close at 5:00 PM, so you can ease into your Saturday and Sunday mornings with us.

Our address is 1651 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10029. If you're new to the neighborhood or need directions, feel free to reach out. We're easy to find and always happy to welcome new faces to our community table.

Questions About Our Menu and Offerings

We understand that everyone has different preferences and needs when it comes to food and coffee. If you have questions about our breakfast menu, lunch options, or any of our daily offerings, we're here to help. Many of our customers ask about ingredients, preparation methods, and dietary preferences—and we're glad to discuss all of that.

Our breakfast menu is available all day, so whether you're craving whole wheat pancakes, an omelet made just the way you like it, or a simple bagel with coffee, you can order it anytime we're open. Our omelets come in several varieties—you can choose your filling from onions, tomatoes, fruit salad, potatoes, or let us surprise you. We also offer egg white options and grilled chicken variations for those watching their protein intake.

For lunch, we serve fresh salads and sandwiches made daily. Our salads include the El Barrio Salad with house dressing, and the Apple Walnut Salad for those looking for something lighter and slightly sweet. Our sandwich selection ranges from Turkey & Cheese to Roast Beef, Tuna, and several chicken options. If you have specific dietary needs or preferences, let us know when you call or visit, and we'll work with you to create something that fits your requirements.

Group Visits and Private Events

East Harlem Cafe is the pulse of our community, and we love hosting gatherings. Whether you're organizing a local organization meeting, a business gathering, or a private event for residents and neighbors, we can accommodate you. We offer an extensive catering menu designed to feed groups comfortably and deliciously.

We've hosted everything from neighborhood association meetings to small business gatherings to family celebrations. Our space works well for groups because it's designed for community connection. We can discuss your specific needs, group size, budget, and menu preferences to create an experience that works for your event.

If you're thinking about hosting something with us, contact us directly to talk through the details. Why We're Here

East Harlem Cafe was founded in 2008 with a simple vision: to create a place where residents and visitors of El Barrio could sit back, relax, and enjoy great coffee. Since then, we've grown into a true neighborhood destination and meeting point. Owned and operated by Michelle Cruz, a boricua and native New Yorker raised right here in East Harlem, the cafe represents a commitment to reinvesting in our community and giving back to our neighborhood.

We're proud to be locally owned and operated, and we're grateful for your support. Whether you're stopping by for your morning coffee, grabbing lunch with colleagues, hosting an event, or just needing a warm place to be part of our community, we welcome you to East Harlem Cafe.
